When in “wonder” mode, our minds can go so many different directions.
I wonder if…
I wonder why…
I wonder how in the world…
I wonder who…
Wondering can go so well and it can go so poorly.
It can lead us to explore ideas we hadn’t previously considered and imagine possibilities we hadn’t previously seen.
It can lead us down useless rabbit trails of presumptions and ponderings, but it can also lead us to discover new and wonderful things.
It can cause us to find excitement where we’d been stale or to find bitterness where we’d been free.
It can cause a rise or a fall.
I wonder, when you’re in “wonder” mode – do you use that time to focus on things that bring joy and peace and hope, or do you find yourself feeling despair after a bout of wondering-gone-wrong?
In Philippians 4:8, God’s word says “whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”
If you find your mind spinning or crashing out chaos, doom, and/or depressing and destructive things, it’s time to switch things up! Snap out of it! Re-focus and wonder again, but this time on all things wonderFULL!
