I’ve resolved to be a day brightener, and if someone’s going to dare make eye contact, they’re going to see me smiling at them.
If someone is going to glance up as we pass each other, they’re going to see me smiling at them.
There was a time in my life where this was absolutely, unequivocally, NOT the case!
There was a time when I avoided eye contact, hid under hoods, and didn’t want to look anyone in the eye.
At that time, I only knew how to be “fake happy” and it was completely exhausting!
Now, my joy is real, and you’d better believe I’m gonna pass it on.
The world can be harsh and cruel, and I want people to know that they were seen that day. That they were acknowledged. That someone was friendly towards them, even if the world hasn’t been.
Be the one who smiles, when the world tends to bring heaviness.
Be the one who looks up, when the world tends to look away.
Be the one who holds eye contact, when the world tends to disconnect.
Be the one who does things differently.
