What else opens when you open your mouth?

I shared a word on this at Miracle Thursdays, and believe it could do all of us a lot of good to hear – myself included!

God’s been highlighting the power of our words to me a lot lately, so let me share with you ?

Each time we open our mouths, we can EITHER…

❌ open the gates of Hell, or the ✅ floodgates of Heaven.
❌ come into agreement with the enemy’s lies over our life, or we can ✅ come into agreement with God’s truth (THE TRUTH) over our lives.
❌ activate demons or we can ✅ activate angels.
❌ curse ourselves, or we can ✅ bless ourselves.

The option is 100% ours, and while I’m a big fan of creating “both / and” situations (instead of “either / or”), there is NO neutral in the Kingdom.

We are either for God or we’re against Him. Plain and simple. There’s no room to be wishy-washy. There’s no “both / and” here. If we’re not agreeing with God (The Way, the TRUTH, and the Life), then we are agreeing with a lie.

So, what does that look like, on a practical level, when life is challenging you in every possible way and someone asks “how are you?”

Are you supposed to…

?‍♀️ fake your response and lie, saying “everything’s so great!”? NO.
?‍♀️ ignore their question and pretend they didn’t ask, so you don’t have to answer? NO.
?‍♀️ complain about everything? NO.

So, how do you respond, without being insincere?

Here are some options of how to respond, honestly, without cursing yourself.

❌Challenge
✅ Response

❌I’m scared of _________.
✅ God, You did not give me a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and a sound mind. So I will NOT agree with this fear that’s trying to plant in my mind. I recognize you, fear. I call you out, and rebuke you now, in Jesus’ name.

❌This crap always happens to me. I’m just a magnet for it.
✅ Every good and perfect gift is from our Father above. I do NOT accept these current circumstances (this situation) as God’s best over my life and I speak blessing over my life. I declare that I will reap a harvest of every seed I have planted, and that what I give will be given back to me, pressed down, shaken together, and running over.

❌I’m not safe / I don’t feel safe
✅ God, you are protecting me. You will never leave me or forsake me. You hide me under your wings and I can seek refuge there. YOUR Faithfulness is my shield and defensive wall. Remind me of who YOU are.

❌I’ll never be good enough for _________.
✅ I am God’s MASTERPIECE. His workmanship. His creation. When He created me, He said “very good.” He created me in His likeness. He created me in Christ Jesus to do the good works that He planned long ago, that I should walk in them. He’s given me strength and courage.

❌I’m struggling with….sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like
✅ I am led by the Spirit, so I am not under the law. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance (aka patience), kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. I belong to Christ Jesus, and have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since I live by the Spirit, let me keep in step with the Spirit.

❌This sucks. It’s hard. I hate this.
✅ Lord, You have given me Your joy as my strength! In Your presence, there is fullness of Joy, which means there is fullness of strength. Draw me close, Lord. Show me how You and I are going to tackle this giant together! It dares to speak lies against you, but there is nothing too big for the Lord.

❌That’s how my family is. They’ll never change.
✅ I am in Christ, so I am a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. And as long as I am changing and growing, that means that there is change and growth within my family!

There is always a way to be honest, without cursing yourself and coming into agreement with Satan’s lies over your life.

And, when in doubt of how to respond, simply reflect on WHO God is instead of ruminating on the challenges you’re facing.

God is bigger and stronger than any challenge we’ll face, and it’s so much more awesome to be on His (winning!!) team than it is to play with demons. To put it bluntly.

Choose wisely. You have the opportunity to think before you speak. Take advantage of that!
