My take on birthdays (as a soon-to-be-38-year-old-lady)…
???? EVERY birthday should be celebrated ???? (and there’s no law that says the celebration has to look the same every year)
???? Since the average baby’s already been cookin’ for 9ish months when they come out, I think that we should *technically* celebrate baby’s 1st birthday when they’re 3 months outta the womb.
☀️ It is actually a pretty insane thought that in my ENTIRE life, the earth has (only?) lapped the sun 38 times. But at the same time, the earth has already circled the sun 38 ENTIRE times ???? Astronomy is WILD, y’all ????
???? It was brought to my attention years ago that MY birthday was actually a pretty special day for my parents, too, and I’ve never thought of it the same ????
???? my annual horse ride is a favorite birthday tradition, and should I someday have ready access to horses on a more regular basis, you can bet that I’ll be celebrating birthdays all year long in that fashion ????
????????♀️ some birthdays are more covert than others, and 38 feels more “under the radar” than in some years past. I don’t have a rhyme or reason, just noticing that it’s sort of playing more of a “fly on the wall” role than the limelight this year.
???????? I’m hardly a granny in age, but my hope is that wisdom increases with each passing year – especially if these gray hairs are gonna keep showing up?!
Monday will come and go, like any other day of any other week, but somehow, internally, it’s a special marker ✨
Nothing outwardly will be drastically different – I’m not gonna chop off my hair or get a celebration tattoo or radically change my style.
I’ll still enjoy my eggs and latte in the morning, and my afternoon walk to pet all the neighborhood dogs ????
I’ll still sing along with the worship music that plays while I work, and I’ll still be working ????
I’ll still write in my journal and take time to enjoy the sky and the chirping birds and my cute little neighbor who calls me his girlfriend ????
Monday itself isn’t anything extraordinary, but if you *really* let yourself think about it – you’ll find that your birthday represents YOU, and you most definitely ARE ????
And the fact that you’re here is extraordinary. The math and “chances” of each of us being here are mind boggling (????), and it’s my hope that in this year, the year of your BIRTHDAY ???? you’ll discover just how purposed you are – fashioned from Love, for Love. Not an accident. Not a mistake. Not a “whoops” or disappointment or bother.
You have been hand-crafted with care by a Heavenly Father who adores you, and if you’ve just not been feeling up to celebrating your birthday, I’d love to be the one to encourage you to see it differently this year ????
It’s the day hand-chosen by God to bless this earth with your presence, and THAT, my friend, is worth celebrating! YOU are worth celebrating ????
