As a single, almost-40-year-old cat lady who works at an accounting firm, I can assure you that Hollywood producers aren’t knocking down my door for rights to the story of my (???? very tame) life ????
I wouldn’t describe my life as particularly riveting, adrenaline-driven, or death-defying (although I’ve defied death really well thus far ????)
There have definitely been pockets of time where something life changing has happened ✔️
I’ve lived through stories that are worth telling (both victorious and heartbreaking), absolutely ????
???? But would movie-goers go to watch me make the same (delicious) egg breakfast everyday?
Would they want to watch my routine of making my bed each morning ????️
Would they be on the edge of their seats to see if I went to the ???? gym, filled up my ???? gas tank, and ran to the ???? grocery store on the way home (yet again)?!
Dare they wait to see if I did indeed wash my face each night, like I’ve done for decades?
It’s hard for me to imagine that there’s anything super duper exciting about my life … after all, I live alone and am in bed before 9pm, and up before the sunshine ☀️ seems most of the crazy happens at nighttime with other people ????
BUT, I’m not complaining… and I’m not going for any reviews that movie critics might give.
If I were though, I hope they’d be something like:
⭐she really does know her way around a “cozy” apartment
⭐we learned that color-coded bookshelves are (apparently??) the new Dewey Decimal System!
⭐she gives us license to host people for breakfast (on an oddly regular basis)
⭐it would seem one can’t have too many neighborhood doggy friends ????
⭐she breathes new life into old things (often) and does the same for people ????
I’m more and more realizing the benefit and blessing of a “steadfast” life. It’s a word that’s been reflected to me multiple times in the last week (????), and it’s helping me see my “dull” life in a different light.
Curve balls happen for sure, and it’s not all puppies and thrifting and coffee and flowers… but can I just encourage anyone else out there who feels their life is “boring” or “lame” or **yawn** ?????
???? One, you’re not alone.
???? Two, there’s a benefit to having things reliable and steady. It’s not a drag – it’s nice.
???? Three, life experiences happen in all sorts of ways, and – while there’s nothing wrong with adventures – they don’t have to all be bought with a ticket somewhere.
I’ve found it extremely helpful to just have one or two “new” things you’ve learned to be able to help create interesting conversations … and it’s always a great idea to simply ask the other person questions and learn about them ????
This one goes out to all the folks who sort of wish their life was way more “interesting” than it feels like, but who also don’t crave wild adventures and enjoy the simplicity of being at home on a cozy day with a book and a cat!
Forklift and I are your people ????
We’re writing this in sweats on a Friday night, if that’s any indication of how genuine this all is LOL!
