I was reminded recently of a love story from my past.
Not mine, but one that involves two of my friends ????
You see, he liked her, but it wasn’t mutual. I mean, she liked him as a friend, but not romantically, as he had hoped.
He pursued, expressed his feelings, and she respectfully declined because she didn’t want to lead him on.
She went on to date someone else, and it didn’t work out. He held onto hope.
But then an interesting thing happened – not quite a plot twist, but sort of…
She started dating someone else, and this one stuck. Early on they knew, and so did everyone else…including Mr. Friend.
And what happened from there was such a cool picture of what it looks like to champion love and let go gracefully.
He rooted them on as their relationship progressed, and then not too long after “everyone knew,” he met his lady.
Once he let go of “miss friend” his “miss girlfriend” finally had room to come into the picture.
When you release what isn’t yours, you make room for what is.
A very sweet double love story – and even though it wasn’t “mine” it’s an encouragement towards mine.
I may not know when or who or how, but I know God knows, and I trust Him.
