Fall called this week ๐ and you better believe I answered!
Fall has been my favorite season for as long as I can remember, but itโs harder to come by down here in (wonderfully sunny) San Diego ๐ด
I grew up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, where seasons were clearly defined ๐ Fall was rich with crisp air and crunchy leaves! We earned our glorious Summers โ๏ธ and got to enjoy the lush greenery thanks to that famous Seattle rain ๐ง๏ธ Winters were cold, and we had snow days โ๏ธ but nothing terribly extreme (usually).
When I moved to San Diego on April 1, 2017, it wasnโt a conscious thing that I was leaving all of that behind ๐ I knew (and was thrilled about the fact that) I was moving into ongoing sunshine and warmth ๐ and was eagerly anticipating not ever having to scrape ice off my windshield ever again ๐ฅถ๐
Fall 2017 came and went, and I was agasp when I saw the fake Fall dรฉcor stores attempted in their front windows ๐ฒ
๐คฆโโ๏ธ No, no, no, no, no. San Diego. Sigh. Thatโs NOT proper Fall. You poor thing ๐คช Let me show you. This is Fallโฆ
๐ Fall is fresh, crisp air, and temperatures in the mid- to high-50s.
๐ Fall is bright sunshine against the backdrop of blue skies and orange leaves.
๐ Fall is getting to wear layers, boots, and turtlenecks.
๐ Fall is showing us that paces change.
๐ Fall is beautifully and confidently transitioning us from the heat of summer to the cool of winter.
Now I love the fact that our Fall down here is warmer than up north. And I love year-round palm trees and sunshine. But I will admit, each year as it rolls around, I find myself craving that crisp air and the crunch of fallen leaves beneath my boots.
So, if youโre in a place where you experience the quintessential Fall (as described above), please take an extra stroll in the crisp air and crunch some leaves for me ๐
I noticed Fall creeping in this week (itโs ever so subtle down here) when I crawled into bed and had to get up to add an extra blanket ๐๏ธ The nights are cold (well, โSan Diego coldโ ๐), and the fact that itโs November is telling, too ๐
Iโm going to enjoy it while itโs here! Even if that means I only wear my Fall clothes for a few hours in the morning and change when I get home because it warmed up ๐
Fall called, and itโs one of the seasons Iโll pick up for! Winter, headโs up, you may be sent to voicemail ๐ฌ๐ ๐คทโโ๏ธ youโve been warnedโฆ
