Fall called this week ? and you better believe I answered!

Fall has been my favorite season for as long as I can remember, but it’s harder to come by down here in (wonderfully sunny) San Diego ?

I grew up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, where seasons were clearly defined ? Fall was rich with crisp air and crunchy leaves! We earned our glorious Summers ☀️ and got to enjoy the lush greenery thanks to that famous Seattle rain ?️ Winters were cold, and we had snow days ❄️ but nothing terribly extreme (usually).

When I moved to San Diego on April 1, 2017, it wasn’t a conscious thing that I was leaving all of that behind ? I knew (and was thrilled about the fact that) I was moving into ongoing sunshine and warmth ? and was eagerly anticipating not ever having to scrape ice off my windshield ever again ??

Fall 2017 came and went, and I was agasp when I saw the fake Fall décor stores attempted in their front windows ?

?‍♀️ No, no, no, no, no. San Diego. Sigh. That’s NOT proper Fall. You poor thing ? Let me show you. This is Fall…

? Fall is fresh, crisp air, and temperatures in the mid- to high-50s.
? Fall is bright sunshine against the backdrop of blue skies and orange leaves.
? Fall is getting to wear layers, boots, and turtlenecks.
? Fall is showing us that paces change.
? Fall is beautifully and confidently transitioning us from the heat of summer to the cool of winter.

Now I love the fact that our Fall down here is warmer than up north. And I love year-round palm trees and sunshine. But I will admit, each year as it rolls around, I find myself craving that crisp air and the crunch of fallen leaves beneath my boots.

So, if you’re in a place where you experience the quintessential Fall (as described above), please take an extra stroll in the crisp air and crunch some leaves for me ?

I noticed Fall creeping in this week (it’s ever so subtle down here) when I crawled into bed and had to get up to add an extra blanket ?️ The nights are cold (well, “San Diego cold” ?), and the fact that it’s November is telling, too ?

I’m going to enjoy it while it’s here! Even if that means I only wear my Fall clothes for a few hours in the morning and change when I get home because it warmed up ?

Fall called, and it’s one of the seasons I’ll pick up for! Winter, head’s up, you may be sent to voicemail ???‍♀️ you’ve been warned…
