I did another thing. Had the privilege of getting on stage at the #LifeOnFire event yesterday!! And let me tell you – my heart was racing. Admittedly, I hesitated for a moment. Then, I simply went for it, fear and all. “What would people think?” “Who am I to get up on this stage in front of this audience?” “Will people think I’m silly or dumb or crazy or….?” “What if I trip going up or down the stairs?”
.
Here’s the thing – this was actually during a break, the microphone was off, and there were maybe only 30 people scattered throughout the room, all preoccupied with other things … and I STILL had all of those thoughts!! Our thoughts can get SO out of hand and wild when we don’t keep them in check. Thankfully, I chose to let my #EXCITEMENT outweigh my #FEAR. #SpeakingOnStage is a dream-turned-goal of mine, and I wanted to capture this moment for my vision board. I chose to step IN instead of shrinking back. I chose to get UNcomfortable instead of staying in my seat. I chose to not wait for permission and to create my own experience. And you know what’s RAD about this?! There was a girl who saw what I was doing and when I got off stage, she hopped up there to get a picture of herself. OUR actions inspire OTHERS!! Let’s use that power and influence for good!
.
Each moment we have a fresh start opportunity. Literally. Each time I hesitate, I have a fresh opportunity to not hesitate in the very next moment. I have the CHOICE to be different than I was just a moment ago. I have the obligation and responsibility to continue moving forward, even when I’m feeling afraid, because I’ve seen glimpses of my future, and it’s massive, and I’m not going to get THERE by staying HERE.
.
So, what’s your “speaking on stage” dream? What do you want to create? Go LIVE that. Literally. Create opportunities to step into what you want. Want to get in shape? Do some burpees and drink some water. It ain’t gonna hurt ya’, and let me tell you – it will build your COURAGE muscle!! And that’s the one that’s going to carry you through when your mind is feeling the fear. Your mind is designed to keep you safe – and this life is not meant to be played safe. This is the ONLY one we get here. Let’s squeeze every drop of life out!
.
Go for it. Make that phone call. Choose the water over the soda. Ask that person out. Get on that stage. Do the thing!
