?I’m 35 today. And to be honest, I’m STOKED about it! And, if you were wondering, I was indeed born ON my due date, at 6:02am PST. #Shocker I know! Perhaps this plays into why I’m a morning person, who does accountability coaching, and is strict with deadlines.
.
For a little bit of birthday fun, here are 35 things you may not know about me:
0️⃣1️⃣. I used to play the trumpet
0️⃣2️⃣. I grew up on a farm (of sorts) with sheep, chickens, a cow, cats, etc. and had the benefit of having neighbors with horses, so I could ride but without the responsibility of ownership. Bonus fact, I would always ride Domino (a pony) bare back, and when I was about 10, I was thrown off of him when he went from standing still to full blown gallop after being startled. I (very gratefully) was able to walk away without so much as a bruise or scratch.
0️⃣3️⃣. My favorite color is pink (followed by rose gold, and marble texture, which I’m counting as a color here)
0️⃣4️⃣. I bake excellent apple pies – just give me a reason though so I don’t eat the whole thing myself
0️⃣5️⃣. Soccer was my sport of choice from kindergarten through 8th grade (except at recess, where I killed it at tetherball and wall ball and four square). My soccer team was the Wild Things, and our jerseys were neon / fluorescent green
0️⃣6️⃣. I flowed easily through high school academics (A average), and college absolutely tore me apart (C- / D+ average)
0️⃣7️⃣. My favorite animal is ……………… ALL OF THEM. I just want to snuggle every single one! If you’re ever unsure of how I want to spend time, just create a way for me to interact with animals and it’s guaranteed that you will have nailed it!
0️⃣8️⃣. I usually lean more towards “asking for permission” vs. “asking for forgiveness” but my risk-taking muscle is building, so that may be shifting ?
0️⃣9️⃣. I started my business 9 years ago (as of January 2021) and for those who are wondering how I got into it, I made it up as I went and started it because I couldn’t bear the thought of going back to corporate. It was birthed after a self-imposed 3-month sabbatical following burn out from my sales job, and also in combo with me not finding any single job I could get myself to apply for because #CorporateBurnoutIsReal
1️⃣0️⃣. I workout consistently, and have for years, but still haven’t gotten to the point where I enjoy the actual workout itself. I like the results of working out, and I’m always glad I did it – but can someone teach me how to enjoy the actual workout? That one baffles me.
1️⃣1️⃣. I used to have a jewelry line, called “Sizzle” and it’s how I got started on Etsy in 2010
1️⃣2️⃣. One of my greatest gifts (in my opinion) is seeing people’s best and encouraging them into it
1️⃣3️⃣. I come from a family of really handy DIY folks, and I definitely got the gene ? Just get me a drill and some spray paint and watch out, world!
1️⃣4️⃣. I’m the youngest of 3 kids, and I’m here because my Granny Annie told my mom and dad that they needed to have a 3rd child. She told them that they had more love to give and could expand beyond 2 kids. Thankfully, they agreed.
1️⃣5️⃣. My love languages are quality time and physical touch. And my favorite flowers are pink peonies. (Shout out to my future husband if you’re reading this!)
1️⃣6️⃣. I love architecture and looking at unique / old buildings!
1️⃣7️⃣. My go to coffee drink has been a mocha, as of late. When I first started drinking coffee, it was originally a caramel macchiato, and then became a vanilla latte. Mocha took over about 6 months ago as I transitioned from iced to hot for the cooler seasons.
1️⃣8️⃣. I enjoy costumes from period films (think Pirates of the Caribbean, Pride and Prejudice, Anne of Avonlea, etc.), and think it’d be fun to get to try on clothes and do photoshoots from different time periods (i.e. mostly Europe in medieval times and the last few centuries)
1️⃣9️⃣. Getting my hair played with is an absolute favorite joy of mine. Any takers? Ladies, you’re always welcome to. Gentlemen, you’re only welcome to do this if you’re MY gentleman ?
2️⃣0️⃣. I love wind + thunder storms, and dark, ominous clouds – especially when the sun is breaking through, so it’s blindingly bright against a gunmetal gray backdrop with winds gusting through and loud rumbles of thunder passing over!
2️⃣1️⃣. I learned to drive on a riding lawn mower. I was instructed to mow our pasture at “turtle” speed, and wasn’t supposed to toggle up to the “bunny” gear (yes, it had actual images that were your speed gage). I 100% ignored that and crept up to bunny speed every single time, and to this day I love acceleration.
2️⃣2️⃣. Hamburgers are typically my favorite food, but I also really enjoy sushi and cobb salads and Thai food and brunch, so….basically, I’ll find something delicious anywhere you take me!
2️⃣3️⃣. I’m a sparkling water kind of gal. Black cherry flavor has been my fav kick lately.
2️⃣4️⃣. I used to read one chapter book a day when I was homeschooled in 4th grade (this technically is TWO things to know about me, so you’re getting some bonuses) – and The Boxcar Children was a favorite series of mine. Babysitters Club was another. And Sideways Stories from Wayside School also kept me entertained. When I was younger, it was Berenstein Bears.
2️⃣5️⃣. Jaywalking gets my adrenaline pumping (so “risk-taking” may have been a slight exaggeration above). If I jaywalk with you, it means I trust you implicitly. Use it wisely.
2️⃣6️⃣. When I was a kid at church, I would sneak into the storage closet and eat sugar cubes, straight (but I would always rearrange them so no one could tell there were any missing LOL – the innocent brain of a child! I’m sure they could tell that an entire layer of the box was missing since the previous service). And I definitely ate my fair share of goldfish crackers and graham crackers when I volunteered in the nursery. I helped with babies, too….but paid myself handsomely in snacks for changing all those diapers!
2️⃣7️⃣. My first move ever was up to college. Born and raised in my same home in Woodinville, WA until I was 18.
2️⃣8️⃣. I earned “Security Guard of the Quarter” back at my job in 2009 – so basically, it’s best if you don’t mess with me.
2️⃣9️⃣. My first car was a 1989 Saab S-900, and I did not appreciate that car when I had it. It had so much character! And it was a manual transmission. So should I ever need to, I can drive stick. Sometimes I miss it…
3️⃣0️⃣. My first job after college was working in a senior care community (I love old people!!) and I became great friends with Pearl, who used to teach French, so we would have the same conversations over and over in French because #MemoryCareUnit
3️⃣1️⃣. I majored in “All University Studies” (yes, that’s officially what’s on my degree) with minors in Communication and French (Oui, je parle français)
3️⃣2️⃣. I was on the bowling team (300 club, baby!!), golf team (co-captain, sportsmanship award, and academic state champs), soccer team (3-peat state champs, and most encouraging award), volleyball team (middle blocker) in high school. All of these sound way more impressive than they are (#HighlightReel), so it’s definitely worth asking me about any of them before assuming anything crazy. Are you enticed yet?
3️⃣3️⃣. As a kid, I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up – and given what I do now, I can say that I didn’t even know that was a thing until I started making it up as I went. So I’m not sure how I could have known it as a kid. But so SO thankful that God gave me the creativity, tenacity, and courage to make up my business back in 2012. I honestly can’t even fathom who I would be, or what my life would be like without this gift of Growth and Grace (aka “Successful Babe”)
3️⃣4️⃣. I used to teach college P.E. classes (volleyball, weight training, and women’s basketball), and I would start every single class with a joke. Every quarter, when students turned in their teacher evaluations, I’d get comments on the jokes and how fun the class was, but never on the content I was actually teaching (i.e. the actual subject of the class they’d signed up for and were earning credit for). That, right there, folks, is a major life lesson!!
3️⃣5️⃣. I’m a Pilates certified level 1 mat instructor (assuming the certs don’t expire??)….I got certified while going through my senior year of college by one of my favorite professors. She’s also the one who discovered the connection between my hamstrings and the bursitis in my hips and gave me a couple of simple exercises that 100% healed bursitis and I’ve never had it since! My first glimpse into how truly interconnected everything in our bodies is, and why I’m so grateful for a trainer who gets it and focuses on full body strength, without overdoing any one muscle group.

?Okay, truth tellers – how many of these things did you already know about me? I wanna hear below ? and share a fun fact that people may not know about you!
