Every morning when I wake up, I get to greet my little Forklift and tell him how precious and sweet and darling he is, and this morning I found myself calling him (among many other pet names) my little “treasure without measure” and it struck a chord.
There are so many treasures in this world that retain a “value” that someone decided it was worth.
But there are also treasures without measure – the people, the relationships, the experiences – that cannot be pigeon-holed into a value range.
I’ve recently had the humbling and gratitude-filled experience of leaning heavily into my community of people and this truth was highlighted even more to me as I navigated unfamiliar territory and let others help bolster me along the way.
Treasure without measure.
I can honestly say that I have NO idea how I would have been able to get through things without the kindness and support of others.
There are some things that cannot be fully grasped until after the fact, and while I’m still processing all of the beautiful ways God has shown up in these last several weeks, it is evidently clear to me that my path was covered in treasures without measure!
Take this picture, for example. Distracted by the beauty of the moon, I had no idea there was an owl above me until after I looked back at the camera roll. Full of peace and beauty and dignity, he calmly remained until I got a photo and then he lifted effortlessly and silently into the night air.
We may not catch every detail in the moment, and we may not always get to capture photo evidence of what took place, but my encouragement to you would be to start counting your treasures without measure.
Notice and appreciate those around you – no need to wait until you’re calling upon their support to do so.
May your life be rich with these treasures, and may you find yourself in the position to BE this kind of treasure to others!
