Y’all. We have to talk. This whole “deflecting compliments” thing is NOT a good look ?

If someone offers you a compliment, receive it, whether you believe it or not.

They took time and effort to express it to you, when it would have been easier for them to keep it to themselves.

It may be that they see something in you that you don’t (yet) see.

Or, it may be that (even though you’re not feelin’ it) they really DO love that outfit on you!

If someone offers you a compliment, receive it, whether you believe it or not.

Simply say thank you and move on.

No need to explain that “it’s a hand me down” or that you “found it tucked away under your bed” or that it’s just “some old thing” that you threw on last minute.

Simply say thank you and move on.

Practice that this week.

If someone offers you a compliment, receive it, whether you believe it or not.

And if you just really get jammed up, and feel awkward, when someone offers you a compliment, here are a few responses you can keep in your back pocket:

? Awww, THANK you!
? Thanks so much!
? Thank you – that’s so kind of you to say.
? I appreciate you sharing that. Thank you.
? Thank you! What a sweet thing for you to voice.
? Thanks for saying that. I’m taking it in!
? I receive that. Thank you!

Simply say thank you and move on.
